What is Content Mastery?

 

Content Mastery is a special education instructional option that is designed to help students be successful in the mainstream classroom by providing appropriate modifications and support in any subject area needed. Most students qualified to receive additional assistance from the Content Mastery teacher are identified as having a Learning Disability (L.D.). The Content Mastery teacher works closely with the regular education teacher to match the demands of the class with the skills of the student. There are times when the Content Mastery teacher is able to work one-on-one with the student to make sure that he/she has the concept being taught. The A. R. D. (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) committee determines student placement in CMC.
